The AgSTAR Program is a voluntary effort jointly sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Energy. The program encourages the use of methane recovery (biogas) technologies at the confined animal feeding operations that manage manure as liquids or slurries. These technologies reduce methane emissions while achieving other environmental benefits.

The CT Farm Energy Program has been designed to assist farmers and agricultural small businesses once an energy audit has been completed. If an energy audit has yet to be completed the CT Farm Program is unable to assist. Once the energy audit is completed and a project has been designed with a budget the Connecticut Farm Energy Program can assist in the grant writing process, and the loan application process to the REAP Grant Program.
